Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture Hosts the Asia-Pacific Forum on Urban Construction and Management

BEIJING, May 20, youth.cn (by Wang Xiaoyun, Cub Reporter) On the morning of May 18, the 2018 Asia-Pacific Forum on Urban Construction and Management Practices was inaugurated in the Library of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. The Forum was hosted by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, with the theme of "Urban Construction and Management Practices and Major Projects Along the Belt and Road", and addressed the technical difficulties and highlights in the field of major projects as well as the development frontier of urban emergency management. The event aimed to build a professional seminar platform at the international level, provide multi-dimensional solutions in the field, and reach regional mutual assistance and technical cooperation.
The Forum attracted industrial experts and elites from Russia, South Korea, the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. The Forum lasted for two days, and the whole day of May 18 was dedicated to keynote speeches and exchanges among experts at home and abroad. The whole day of May 19 was dedicated to three sub-forums of "Civil Engineering Technology", "Traffic and Environmental Engineering" and "Urban Construction and Management". In addition, the Forum this year also consisted of arrangements such as the Youth Forum and technical study tours, which aimed to create a new phase of cooperation and development of urban construction and management practices in Asia and the Pacific through various forms of in-depth exchanges.

On the day of the keynote speech, Professor Zhang Ailin, President of BUCEA and Chairman of the event, delivered an opening speech as well as a keynote speech on the theme of "Concept and Practices of Urban Construction and Management in China in the New Era". Zhang Ailin pointed out that the Forum this year was an important initiative to deeply implement the spirits of General Secretary Xi Jinping's two visits to Beijing as well as the spirits of the Central Urban Work Conference and the report of the 19th CPC National Congress, and was a practical measure to fulfill the pretty "Chinese Dream". The 2018 Asia-Pacific Forum on Urban Construction and Management Practices hosted by BUCEA WAS not only a high-level academic exchange platform, but also a significant opportunity to address major demands, keep pace with academic frontiers and output innovative achievements.He hoped that all the guests and experts would speak freely and be courageous to innovate the concepts, theories, approaches and technologies of urban construction and management, strengthen the application of engineering practice, and share the new wisdom of urban construction and management.
It is reported that Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) is the training base and science and technology service base for talents in urban planning, urban construction and urban management in Beijing. By constantly strengthening the demand-oriented school running characteristics, BUCEA has formed a number of distinctive discipline fields, scientific research directions and innovation teams with national comparative advantages in architectural heritage preservation, urban and rural planning and architectural design, urban transportation infrastructure and underground engineering, sponge city construction, modern urban surveying and mapping, solid waste resources technology, green building and energy-saving technology. BUCEA has now 26 provincial and ministerial-level key laboratories, engineering research centers and research bases, including the Beijing Future Urban Design Innovation Center, the Key Laboratory of Urban Rainwater System and Water Environment of the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for Representative Architecture and Ancient Architecture Database, the Key Laboratory of the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information of China for Modern Urban Mapping, and the Beijing Research and Talent Training Base for Climate Change.
